Multi-Audio Output greyed out

I have a Samsung 8500 (UN55JS8500F Model). I want to simultaneously use my external speakers with my television speakers. The external speakers are actually already paired, but the 'multi-audio output' option is completely greyed out. I've tried everything under the sun, including changing the source and contacting support. Does ANYONE have a remedy for this issue for this model?? I need to make note that I am also connected to an Apple TV, as it is my primary source of use.

No, unfortunately that doesn't help 😞 

I am hard of hearing and it's either I am listening through headset and my husband doesn't have any sound, or I am left without any sound just reading captions. This really is ridiculous. Anyone have solution to this? My TV is UN55NU8000 (8000 series). Thank you for your help. BTW, I did try changing Source to TV, paired headphones, to no avail.
