Samsung Messages needs app updates

I never see any updates to Samsung Messages other than with a full One UI update. (I was using Textra but don't get the notification pop up on galaxy watch 4 )

The main improvements to the app would be to customise whether it turns the screen on with notification. For some reason even with the notification set to do lighting, it turns the entire lock screen on! 

Also when I get delivery reports it sends a notification, maybe this could just be written in smaller letters next to each message?

I'm sure there more suggestions out there too.
