@nos62: Let's start with the unwanted compass app. If you know the name of the app, head to Settings > Apps > Select the relevant app > Uninstall. It may be the case that you need to improve your Location Accuracy to avoid having to recalibrate the compass. With this in mind, head to Settings > Biometrics and Security > Location > On > Improve Accuracy, and enable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Scanning to see if this helps.

You may consider the fact that not all compass accuracy issues are related to compass calibration - though the compass should be calibrated, certainly.
