My S21 FE was updated to Android 14 on 30 December 2023. There had been glitches and errors after that but these were resolved, basically. One particular glitch has remain a nuisance, however. The new fonts that came with Android 14 renders some of the texts literally unreadable in some applications. A classical example are those in Whatsapp. Those texts shown immediately under a post title of a message look garbled and blurred purely because of their style. There obviously is nothing wrong with the display. They never were before my phone was upgraded to Android 14. Then I realized I am stuck on the default font, and I have no other choice. I downloaded some other fonts from Samsung and tried them on the phone. This only made the problem worse. I imagine the problem would be solved if only I am able to revert the font style on my phone back to where it was i.e. an Android 13 default font. Anyone out there hit by the same problem? What are the solutions?

In the screenshot the light blue regions are unreadable, because the font is some sort of translucent rubbish, and it's some weird ethereal thing, almost a illegible against the background

My phone is on Android 14, One UI version 6.0; it's a Galaxy A13.

The problem occurs in multiple apps, but fortunately probably only 10% to 15% of the text is affected. Otherwise I would have had to consider a factory reset, which would be the loss of two years of added apps etc etc. The problem appeared just after I visited a public library that day. I have no idea if that's related to the problem.

All of the problem text seems to have some sort of white shadowing effects around the periphery of each letter.

I wonder if being in the library caused some kind of disabled visibility access font to be switched on

This screenshot is from a different app, but shows the same ghostly periphery, and white shadowing effect1710543106114.jpg

The only thing I have found that helps, is to turn on Eye comfort shield from settings, which gives the following screen shot, but this is still not great, obviously 😢1710543759675.jpg

My problem has been resolved by doing a factory reset of the phone. Last resort, as I had tried everything that I knew of. It had been a waste of time trying if nothing really worked. It also gave me the impression that it never was a 'font' problem - it was purely a problem created by the upgrading. Blame it on Samsung. 🙄
