S20 Ultra Camera freezes after software update

galaxy s20 ultra

After recent update of phone OS the original (preinstalled) Camera app is not functional anymore.

It starts with a black screen and does not respond to any action.

Other apps that use camera work without any issue.

The problem is only with the official samsung app.

I did following steps already:

  • Reset to default settings camera app
  • Cleaned its data and cache
  • Removed sdcard
  • checked that there is no update available for camera app
  • restart in safe mode - same failure of camera app

I will do that, though from experience they most probably will factory reset the phone, which is not what I am willing to go through with all reinstallations once again.

This has also happened to my phone. OS update has caused the preinstalled camera app to stop working. Just a black screen and no response from any buttons. Used the samsung members app to check the camera hardware and it works fine. This is just a problem with the preinstalled camera.
