I made an error of placing one app into a folder unintentionally with another, pulled it out. It disappeared as I let it settle in its place in the App drawer. 

Went pack to settings, sort alphabetic order, to see if this would restore. No

Revert to previous custom order, an entire folder with apps disappeared.

Went to Phone settings, and cleared OneUI Cache data.

Still nothing.

Tried restart, nothing.

Any suggestions

My icons disappear if the phone places the apps into sleep if not used for a while. You can find deep sleeping apps in settings. Also when moving apps around it's possible to accidentally uninstall them, remove shortcut or accidentally drop them in another folder. However if the app is still on your phone and is not deep sleeping you can swipe up to your main app screens and the icon should be in one of the pages where you can re add it to the preferred folder. I hope this helps
