Sync Samsung Calendar with Outlook calendars on S9?

The Samsung Calendar app looks much better than the calendar in the Outlook app, but I cannot sync my Office 365 Outlook calendars with it. I've added an Microsoft Exchange account to the Samsung app, but that did not add the separate calendars of which I have about 5 or 6. I add all my appointments etc to Outlook on my iPad or laptop, but it would be mighty helpful to see them on the Samsung app too. Any tips for how to get this to work? Thanks.

Sadly, this didn't work. I followed all the steps, emailed the ics link to myself, tried to open it on my S9, but all I got was a choice to open it in Chrome or via my antivirus program. Not a word about opening it or saving it. Any ideas?

Hey all, just fixed this on my Dad's new S9 phone.

The issue is perhaps caused by 1 of 2 things.

Firstly the default "Email" app is what dictating permission and sync settings of Calendar apps. When adding the Outlook.com account to the email app you get directed to install the outlook app however calendar settings are still set on the email app.

Firstly check the email app permissions, ensure storage is enabled.

second go in to email app, select the outlook account settings, calendar sync setting and change from 6 months to always keep sync'd. All calendar events should now appear after a fresh sync in any calendar app.

If that still does not work then go to the inbox of the email app and the email that directed you to install the outlook app should have a link allow 3rd party apps for email. Emails will now appear in the Email app, confirm if calenar items are now showing.

This is the actual answer that actually solves the problem. Thank you! 5 gold stars!

Samsung calendar now synchs correctly with my Outlook calendar and the Outlook app still synchs just fine as my primary email client.

With your method I can create calendar entries in Outlook and see them in the Samsung Calendar app but I cannot create an entry in the Samsung Calendar and be visible in Outlook.

So it is only one way syncing, from Outlook to Samsung Calendar.

I imagine Samsung Calendar creates a Read Only copy of my Outlook Calendar and it is not allowed to alter the data or create an item and send it back to Outlook.

So this should not be accepted as a solution.

I expect the Samsung Calendar:

1. To work without having to install Samsung Email App and have double emails everytime (once in Samsung app, once in Outlook)

2. To be able to modify Outlook calendar entries in Samsung Calendar app and the change to be visible in Outlook (Desktop, mobile, web etc)

Until then, this are just lame workarounds for geeks and Samsung Calendar app sucks

Yes, indeed just a work around.

The main problem is that you HAVE to install and run the email app, even if you prefer Outlook as I do.  I have the app running but diabled the email side of things and just use the Calendar sync.

The other isssue is that Outlook is not a 2 way sync for the Cal as it is for contacts.  That is a Microsoft issue / limitation (I have been speaking to them).

The only other option is to use a different calendar / widget like the Outlook one, that works quite well.

Frustrating thing is I have to use a Gmail to log into Google / Apps, I use a Hotmail for personal use and seperate work account.  The stock Email app isnt up to the job and I wouldnt want all 3 accounts in one place....  All workarounds, my old Windows Mobile was so much better organised from a systems level.

Same issue on A3, spent hours on live chat with MS people and Samsung people and they had me reinstalling apps, profiles, accounts etc to no avail. Connecting the Samsung Email has worked, simple yes, now twice data and battery being spent to solve a problem that should not exist Samsung! Thank you crvsld but no thank you SAMSUNG.

Jaico_Garcia, while your comment might be useful to some, it's not an answer to the question, as that is about SYNC-ing. What you propose is just an import, and not a synchronisation. The whole idea of synchronisation is that only the delta (the difference between two entities) is used to update the calendar. And usually sync happens two ways. That's why it is important to distinguish between IMPORT and SYNC.

Hello, I have a Samsung 9+ and I cannot sync calendars as well.  I deleted the MS Exchange Account and entered it from Accounts, but it did give me the option of manual setup.  I didn't select that, and added the account, but then from there, it prompted settings.  I just entered them from there.  No luck... Why did I see a manual setup from Accounts and you did not?  Thanks.

After spending over 3 hours this morning on Samsung Live Chat and phone tech support, the technicians could not sync my Outlook calendar with the S10 phone Calendar. One technician actually had the nerve to tell me that I must not have any content in my Outlook calendar otherwise it would have transfered. I just finished following your steps and I now have the Outlook calendar data on my Phone - finally. Thanks so much. I actually informed Samsung today that i was returning my phone - I still may do so beause of the very poor support.
