WhatsApp Notifications Delivering as Silent

Hi everyone!

 

I'm having trouble with my WhatsApp notifications. For the last few days all chat/groups notifications are getting to me as "silent notifications".

I checked all my settings (both phone and app) and all of them are set to deliver with sound and vibration.

I reinstalled the app a couple of time, also cleared it's cache, reset it's notification settings and app permissions.

 

I looked everywhere for solutions to this but nothing worked.

Same here. There was an update yesterday seems to have messed with the notifications.

Yeah. I've tried to get an answer using the Samsung Members chat but the only thing they told me to do is to contact the WhatsApp support.

I emailed them and they don't seem to know that this issue is affecting multiple devices.

Just started doing this yesterday, factory reset didn't resolve it either.

[SOLVED] WhatsApp Notifications Not Showing — Hidden Culprit: App Icon Badges

 

📌 Problem:

WhatsApp notifications completely stopped — no sound, no vibration, no pop-ups.  

This happened right after I disabled **"Sound & Vibration"** in the notification settings.  

Later, the option disappeared from the UI, and no matter what I did, **I wasn't getting any notifications** for a whole day.

 

🛠️ What I Tried:

I connected my device via ADB and attempted various resets — permissions, notification listeners, etc.  

I avoided uninstalling WhatsApp because I wanted to retain all chat data.

 

💡 Root Cause Identified:

After trial and error with another non-critical app, I discovered the issue:

Since Turning off sound and vibration  option silently disables pop-up notifications too.

So :

Re-enabling **App Icon Badges** instantly brought back the option and all WhatsApp notifications — sound, vibration, and heads-up banners.

 

🧩 Final Fix:

> Go to **Settings → Notifications → App Icon Badges → Enable it *you can see changes in notification settings*.

 

📎 Notes:

- ADB can help test/reset notification settings, but in this case, it was a **UI-level toggle** causing the problem.

- Even after resetting everything via ADB, **App Badging** was the key to restoring full notification behavior.
