Hi @Drconfused  is the Restarting constant or only ocassionally, if ocassionally may   be due to the Auto Optimiser setting. if more often  may be due to a 3rd party app causing a conflict and should try the device in Safe Mode as suggested.

If not the issue you may need to clear the cache partition , this deletes temporary cache files (sometimes some can become corrupted)  but keeps your Data intact.

Follow these steps:

1. Turn off the device.
2. May need to Connect To Computer or plug in USB-C Headphones , Press and hold the Volume Up key and then press and hold the Power key
3. When the Android logo displays, release all three keys.
4. Wait until the Android system recovery menu options appear.
5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
6. Press Power key to select.
7. Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
8. When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
9. Press the Power key to restart the device.

Can also Repair Apps from the same Recovery Menu:

This problem might cause if you have the Auto Optimizer on. The Auto Optimizer Restarts Only when its necessary like if the phone is running slowly or the system frezed etc. It restarts automatically if you are not using. U can turn it off on device care > at the bottom u see a button for restart if necessary to run the system stable

This has never happened to me. maby boot your phone into Safe Mode to check if a third-party app is causing the issue. If the problem stops in Safe Mode, uninstall recently added apps.
