A14 phone charging slowly

My Samsung A14 has today started charging painfully slowly. I'm charging it through a fast charger and fast charging is enabled in the apps. I've just read that cold weather can slow charging...can anyone advise please?

Good morning JustMarky, thanks for the reply and I think you're right. I was using the cable that came with the brick when I bought it (Although it's only a few months old!) Just swapped it for the one that came with the phone and it's much quicker. The replacement said there was 10 minutes before full, and when I put the other one back in it said almost double that. As I said the cable wasn't very old, and I was thinking it was the cold or even an update that slowed it. Thanks for your help, much obliged.

As long as fast charging is still enabled in your settings, I would've thought that this is more likely to be an issue with the cable. I have seen many USB-C cables that stop providing 'fast charging' over time, just normal wear and tear.

May I ask you one further question regarding charging? I've just found out that the lead that failed was the original Samsung one that came with the phone and was only two or three months old!
Although your reply was correct the phone still takes what I w ould consider rather a long time to complete charging...however there are many posts online that say that this is normal for the A14. I don't think the plug I use is actually a Fast Charger, and I wonder if you can tell me if you think it would be worth investing in a better quality bona fide Fast Charger?

Sometimes the cables can develop faults quickly, other times they can last years.. Just like everything these days unfortunately 😭 glad you can fast charge again, definitely better than slow charging ha ha!

I can see the galaxy A14 charges at a maximum of 15W, so if your Samsung plug says 15W and is usb c to usb c then that is likely the best you'll get. If you used a higher wattage plug, you'll only get the maximum 15W Fast Charging that the phone can handle, so you wouldn't see a difference in time, if that makes sense.

Higher priced Samsung phones charge at 25W, it's still called fast charging, but it's much faster than the A14. The flagship phones charge at 45W, this is called super fast charging. My s22 ultra can charge 0-50% in under 30mins.

That's only 5w. You will definitely notice faster charging if you buy the genuine USB c Samsung fast charger and usb c cable.
