Whatsapp notifications not waking watch or sounding

I have a Galaxy watch 4.  Normal text message notifications are waking my watch screen and sounding but when I receive a whatsapp message, it comes through to my watch but doesn't wake the screen or make any sound so I only know it's there if I see the dot on my watch screen.  All whatsapp notification settings are as they should be.  Anybody have any suggestions?

🤷 sorry but I am out of solutions...very odd that we are running different versions of wearable 🤔

Yeah it is odd. Ive come to the conclusion that this is an issue with the whatsapp app rather than the watch.

Uninstall WhatsApp and re install 🤷

The issue has re-surfaced again! So bloody annoying!! 😡 😡 I've contacted whatsapp support to complain as it must be a bug in the app. I cant keep re-installing the app all the time as I lose my conversion threads each time.

I'm assuming you have not encountered this issue at all? If so, it seems strange given that we are both using exactly the same equipment and apps. Same watch, same phone and same app.
