Received the update yesterday and I am disappointed. Battery lasts half as long, freezing is now a common occurance, has a tendancy to disconnect from my phone and will not reconnect unless i restart the watch and animations are very laggy. Just using it is unbearable sometimes. Samsungs known support on wearables, it would probably take months for a more stable patch. If anyone knows a fix, please let me know.

I don't understand how Samsung would think it would go well to rush an operating system out into stable when the actual Android version is still in its beta!

The battery did go down quickly yesterday after the upgrade. I charged the watch to 97% today morning and it shows 1 day and 8 hours of charge left. I am hoping that this will improve further.

I also faced intermittent disconnects yesterday while fiddling with the settings in the Wearable app. Today it seems to be working fine.

I have wiped the cache partition. Updated Google Play Store and some apps on the watch and restarted both the watch and phone. I suggest give it a try and check if it helps.

There are a couple of things not working, like the incorrect time shown when sleep mode is turned on or Find My phone does not show a map yet or pressing the home key to dictate while using Samsung keyboard does not work. But more or less it seems to be a great update.

Wear OS 4 is based on Android 13 and Android 14 is currently in Beta.

I had this exact same problem on my Watch 5 pro. I experienced all the same issues you have.
My battery lasted 8 hours!
Sadly, the only fix is to factory reset your watch.
This will keep the new update on your watch but solve the issues.
I very reluctantly did this and my watch now runs perfectly with the new update.

Will it remove everything I have on it? If so are there ways to back up stuff?

In the Galaxy Wearable app you can backup your watch.
However for me it kept the various settings I had (sound/display/button mapping etc) but not apps I had installed, tiles or quick panel, so it wasn't a perfect back up.
If you have alot of apps on your watch take a screenshot or write them down so you remember which to reinstall.
Honestly I think factory reset is your only option.
I tried restarting my watch and phone. Also tried resetting the link between my watch and the wearable app - by the way if you do this you'll have no choice but to factory reset your watch because the issue with the watch constantly disconnecting from your phone means you'll never have a connection for a long enough time for the wearable app to connect to your watch again.
I know it's not ideal but factory resetting worked for me.
Maybe Google your issue as Reddit might have other solutions but I wouldn't think so Screenshot_20230912_101552_Galaxy Watch5 Manager.jpg

My GW4 battery been a bit worse too - Google Play Services seems to be using a lot more battery than it did previously for some reason
