Watch 4 apps won't update

I have several apps on my Watch 4 classic that need updating. However when I click on 'Update' all I get is the message 'Download pending' and a spinning wheel.  Anyone else had this issue?

No nothing works. I did a factory reset and still the same. Cannot update or download from Google app store.
