Using Gear S3 without phone over Wi-Fi

Is it possible to send and receive text messages with my Gear S3 without being within Bluetooth range of my phone while both devices are connected to different Wi-Fi's?

I went to work the other day and left my phone at home, my Gear S3 was able to connect to Wi-Fi at work but I was unable to send a text.

Hi @Rugergear.

The watch would need a network connection to be able to send and receive text messages. Do you have the LTE version of the watch with imbedded SIM?
