Samsung Buds Live does not connect to Galaxy Wear app

I tried connecting my Buds live to my phone. It does connect through direct Bluetooth pairing and it plays music and answers calls. However, when I try to connect it to Wear app, to access it's unique features, it doesn't let me connect. I've tried connecting to different handsets (and to iOS devices as well). When it connected my Samsung phone intuitively, through wear app, it downloaded the firmware and proceed to connect. However, at the final stage, I got a message "your ear buds aren't connected to your phone" and there was a "connect" button beneath it. On clicking this button, it displays a message "couldn't connect to your ear buds" and there is a "try again" button, clicking on which shows the same message over and over again.

I've tried resetting the buds using the close and open technique of the buds case and it didn't help. I've also tried reinstalling the wear app after clearing storage and cache, which didn't help either.

Can I have an advise on this please?
