S20+ Ultra and Active Watch

So upgraded to the S20+ so I could take advantage of the free Active watch. Received it a couple of days ago however cannot get it paired to the phone. It appears to be a very common problem and have tried every conceivable reset, uninstall, reinstall steps found but no success. So far its a complete waste of a device. Anyone managed to pair and was there anything odd you had to do?

@stevietud: Sorry to hear that you're having issues connecting your Galaxy Watch Active to your S20+. Can you confirm if you have attempted the connection using the Galaxy Wearables app, available from the Google Play Store or Galaxy Store? If not, please download the app on your S20+, click on Start Your Journey and follow the on screen prompts.

got my new s20 a few weeks back and it said free active watch and i see you have yours .
How do i claim it please .
