How does anyone put up with these forced on to their Galaxy Watch faces when using certain apps and why do we not have the ability to turn them off ???

If you don't like it, why buy one!

The only workaround that I have found it to disconnect the watch from the phone. Play music on phone and then connect the watch again. The ongoing icon notification does not appear (until the corresponding app is opened on the watch).

I had raised this with Support last year. No response yet. I suggest you also send send an error report.

A major reason for having a smart watch for me is the ability to control my phone from my watch, this is of little help, thanks all the same for your input.

Doesn't say in any product description that these annoying little icons will be on your screen every time you play music on your phone or go for a work or I definitely wouldn't have bought one. I was happier with my Huawei Watch which cost less than a third of the price.

Done this though, thanks again for your input, I'm sure as with your report I will get no reply but possibly worth a try.1694935411950_1694935411940_0.jpg

Just to elaborate on the workaround, you don't have to keep the watch disconnected all the time. Disconnect the watch before playing music and after you start the music on your phone, connect the watch again. Note that the moment you pause and play again, the icon will appear on the watch.

Hmm, seems like a faff, Samsung needs to add a simple few lines of code to give the option to turn it off in the wearable app.
With earlier models, those running Tizen this was present(see image) so I have trouble finding a reason for this to not be applicable with later model watches. Screenshot_20230917_084918_Samsung Internet.jpg
