Hi i have had the same issue it took me all yesterday afternoon to figure a fix as no one else seemed to have the answer just a reset that you cant do on an unconected bud. The answer is simple i beleive it is because for some reason the left charge pod dose not recognise a flat or dead battery. If like me you can get hold of a first gen buds charge case ( not plus but may work with a diffrent plus case? ) then perhaps being less advanced it can recognise the dead battery and will charge it. Once it has some charge then you can use its own case as normal. It seems really simple and it is, yet no one else or atleast that i have found on the net gives this as a solution. I hope this helps.
