Hi @Bradsmith1507. There isn't a kayaking option but there is a rowing one built in.

Unfortunately there's no option on the watch for it but you can record it as cycling which enables the gps and then change it to canoeing via the Samsung health app.

Good suggestion but... I don't think there's a way to edit workouts with the Samsung Health app. I tried this after a kayaking session, which I set as "Swimming (outdoor)." From the Home screen, I scrolled down to the section labeled 'Exercise' and selected recent workouts. Under today the 'Swimming (outdoor)" is listed. I selected it and the app displays the workout details. Surprisingly, it doesn't track the distance traveled. It only tracks duration, heart rate and calories burned. Next time, I'll try this with cycling so I also get the distance.

Anyhow, I don't see a way to edit this swimming workout to change it to a kayaking workout. The only options are to delete or share the workout. Can you explain how to edit workouts?

Thanks

Gregg

What would be really nice is if Samsung would allow user-created exercises and we could either add them to the list in Samsung Health and then uploaded it to your watch. You would decide what parameters to track - distance via GPS, heart rate, # strokes per whatever time unit (they can do this with swimming laps, so they should be able to do it for kayaking or rowing), etc.

If they had this sort of capability we wouldn't need to wait for someone in who knows where to add it. Most likely, the developers have never sat in a kayak or rowing scull in their life. And like most mega large corps, they don't put resources into features that only a small set of potential customers might use. So rowers and kayakers will probably never get direct support from Samsung. I know it is on the wishlist for several other companies like Apple but they are probably as interested in this as Samsung. I also noticed a forum thread about tracking kayaking in the Fitbit forums. The mods at least directed them to the wishlist section.

And it's too bad your workaround no longer works. I could've accepted that. Not perfect but pretty good.

Yeah or just a generic option that does distance, speed, map, heartrate would cover anything missing.. Seems like quite a basic thing to be missing.

Unfortunately, I have seen this requested numerous times over the years and Samsung doesn't even monitor these threads for suggestions so it will never happen.

Yeah, my Active 2 watch recently died after taking an open water swim. It was still under warranty, so I sent it in for repair. A week or so later, I got a message that it wouldn't be covered under warranty because of water damage. This for a watch with a 5 ATM rating that is promoted for and has excellent apps for lap and outdoor (open water) swimming. It was clear after communicating with Samsung's tech support, none of them even own the watch (one actually said they weren't paid enough to afford to buy a Samsung smartwatch), let alone have ever used them for swimming.  So their "support" was pretty pathetic. I don't blame the people, they seemed to understand why I was upset but they were powerless to help me and could only point out that the warranty doesn't cover water damage due to wetness, dampness or moisture. After a Google search of "Samsung's warranty is worthless" or "Samsung warranty on Galaxy Watch is useless," I learned many people reported the same experience. A lot of them didn't even use their watches for swimming. And the same problem was reported with the warranty for Samsung smartphones. Terrible customer service.

I would agree that their interest in improving functionality by monitoring these forums is very unlikely. I may try selling my watch for parts. I definitely won't replace it with another Samsung watch. And I won't ever buy another Samsung product. Don't get me started on the ice maker in our Samsung refrigerator...
