Help. Samsung Galaxy buds are now faint when paired with Samsung watch

I've recently bought Samsung Galaxy buds and Samsung Galaxy Active Watch and they were paired and working fine. I use them to listen to Spotify when running. All of a sudden the sound is faint. I have to turn up the volume to max to hear anything at all. Prior to that I could hear music clear and loud on 6 setting. The headphones still work fine with my Samsung s9 phone and Samsung A7 tablet.  I've tried the usual off/on. Restart etc. Nothing seems to increase the volume. Please can anyone help me with this issue?

Maybe put your buds on charge

I'll give that a go but if charging was the issue why would they still work with my phone and tablet?

Maybe it works with S Series Tablets like the Galaxy Tab S6, Tab S7 And Tab S7+

that use to happen with my old buds. I took the covers of and cleaned lightly with a fine toothbrush and they worked great after that.
