Received my galaxy watch on Friday but no matter what I do I cannot get the step counter to work properly, I've tried all the suggested things to fix the problem but nothing works, the step count is so intermittent or dosent work at all.

If I get up and walk around it counts nothing, jog up the stairs and it starts counting, sit down and get up again and the watch stops counting.

I've seen alot of posts with people with the same problem and all of them returning there watches, I love the watch and don't really want to return it if it's a software issue that can be fixed.

Anyone else UK having the same issue

So, today I have done 27 floors between waking up and getting to work.

My bedroom is upstairs, so I walked down stairs this morning (no floor should be counted). Walked on a flat route to the bus stop, sat on the lower deck of the bus, walked up a flight of stairs that is possibly 2 floors but normally only counts as 1, and then walked up another flight to my desk that normally counts as 1.

That's a maximum of 3 floors possible. How did it calculate that I've done 27?!

I just noticed that mine doesn't even record HR, the last record for walking is just the speed shown. I checked the record for HR. Unbelievable... SmartSelect_20181019-103810_Samsung Health.jpg

It was recorded automatically as I was walking for almost 14mins. However, no record of HR. Strange.

I have the one from yesterday, that's what it looks like. SmartSelect_20181019-111834_Samsung Health.jpg

The HR was taken from HR graphs indeed. I was checking if it doesn't record at all or only for activities.

Yeh, that is terrible, coming from Fitbit & Garmin its not hard to see why people are returning the GW in masses..

Ive just resubmitted the log_dumps from new firmware to the 'specialists' so will await there request to clean the sensor :smiling-face:

Ive also requested they give us access to a 3rd party app (Google Fit lets say) until they can resolve the issues, not gonna happen but if you dont ask and all that! I know its possible as there are developers right now creating Tizen apps that play nicely with Alexa & Google Assistant, they told me it should be fairly straightforward to also create a Google Fit one (didnt offer to make it though) :face-with-rolling-eyes:

I have received the third firmware update just now.  It is true that the step count improved after update 2.

Can someone send me a link to where these developers are creating tisen apps.  Be interested in running them

Last night I received a response on one of my error reports. It is as follows (please refer to the screenshot)

It seems that they are well aware of the issue - there's no specific HW problem but a badly designed structure of the HR sensor possibly and on top of that there's nothing to warrant any progress in the near future. At least this is what I get.

I'm glad I returned my watch and will possibly never bother until its successor gets released.
