Galaxy Watch 3 software updates to include ECG and Blood Pressure... is it now available in the UK ??

Hi all,

Did anyone get this official software update to the Galaxy watch 3 yet, to include the full health functions of ECG and Blood pressure ?

I am watching reviews and forums online, to see if these functions are now enabled and working, as I would be very keen to buy the Galaxy watch 3 when this function becomes available... or alternatively perhaps I may wait to see if there is an improved  'watch 4' announced in August.

It seems many people online still haven't yet got this firmware update ?  It was due to start rolling out on 4th Feb .  If you HAVE received the update and used it ... is this function any good ?  Does it seem to provide accurate data ?

I actually suffer from a fairly severe heart issue, and if this device function was to give a good measurement for ECG and BP, then it would be a great device for my purpose and this could help to minimise my risks of heart arrhythmia issues.

Although, this watch could never replace a proper medical instrument, or a full ECG test by medical professionals... it would enable me to understand if I was having an issue or not, so could be really useful to me.

Any responses from the users would be appreciated.

Thanks

in short no, the date seems to now be the 22nd February, but no year mentioned.

another member here posted the files, works fine for me.

I bought the watch 3, 5 days ago if on the 22nd February the update is no rolled I will return it.

fed up with many endless samsung promises going back to even earlier watches.

@Obsydian, thanks for your response.

I would prefer not to side load the apps... obviously the genuine software push is preferable.

I once owned the Gear S3 frontier, but I returned it soon after...only because it didn't quite work well enough as a running watch. I bought a dedicated garmin running watch instead.

However, now my demands are different. The health additions, and the watch in general appears to be an improvement from the days of the frontier model, and I am certainly keen to look at this as an option and to help with my heart health.

Hopefully the update makes it out soon enough into the public domain 👍😉

kind regards

I haven't received the update yet in the UK. I really want them to roll it out because its those functions that are the main reason I bought it other than for tracking my sleep which is often really bad and also counting steps more accurately.

I aware there are limitations to the tech such as the ECG but I want a long term look at both to motivate me to see a specialist because I suspect there is issues with my heart and My grandfather died before I was born of a heart attack and I have a resting heart rate of 90-100.

I am  a Samsung Galaxy Active 2 user, I bought it in Jan 2020 because Samsung said  the Galaxy Active 2 supports ECG but not at launch but would roll out in Q1 2020.  A year later, I am still waiting.  I don't want to be cynical, but Samsung is not the best on keeping to their dates.

understood. there were some official news of the software update occurring early Feb... for the ECG and Blood pressure functions.

I will wait a bit longer. however the Watch 3 is a pretty good price at the moment... so it is a decision to make.

@maclean3... I am sorry to hear that... but if you have concerns then please go and see a professional cardiologist and get tested... not to rely on a phone to diagnose.

unfortunately I am within a family with inherent problems for arrhythmia and heart issues.

these days I have an ICD which is a pacemaker / defibrillator in my chest area.

for me, a quick and easy method to check my ECG and BP would be very useful... but not for my own diagnosis as I already know my problems.

Good luck with the doctor. p.s. most of the time there is nothing to worry about.

Thanks all... for the comments.

I am tempted to invest in the watch as it is currently on a good price... and in the hope that this functionality soon enough becomes available.

it sounds positive that samsung have got medical and CE approval. of course the latest apple watch have similar functions.

Does anyone regularly use the standard HR analysis ?

when I was a runner I found the HR on the early Gear3 Frontier to be quite inaccurate. How is this nowadays with the newer watches ?

thanks all for your time.
