Galaxy earbuds, not resuming play after tapping

Hi all, guess this has probably been asked before, but I can't find it.

When I stop music or YouTube playing by the single tap on the earbuds, another tap should start it playing again, but it doesn't... It used to, but about a year ago it stopped, so I have to manually press play on the phone. All updates are done. 

Anyone know why?

Just tried clearing the cache, seems to have fixed it.
