Galaxy 4 watch with google pay

Hi

I have just purchased a galaxy 4 watch. Downloaded Google pay fine and the app looks like it works on the watch. even can see the picture of my card saying hold to reader.

BUT  when I hold it to the card readers nothing happens. it doesn't scan and no payment is taken.

any ideas? tried it at about 10 different shops now, never works

have gone into NFC on watch settings. it had Samsung pay selected. I have switched it to Google... Will see if that works...

Make sure Google pay is also selected in the NFC payment option
