Can't send any texts!

Hi, I have just got an S8 and Galaxy smart watch and everything seems to work with the Watch except texting when disconnected from my phone.  My question is can the Watch send and recive messages when not connected via Bluetooth but on its own 4G.  King regards Michael.

@Trekie83: There are 2 variants of the Galaxy Watch: A WiFi only model and a 4G model. If you have the WiFi only version then you would be required to be connected to your phone via the Galaxy Wearables app in order to send text responses and make calls, while the 4G variant allows you to send/receive texts without being connected to a mobile device.

Hi, sorry mine is the 4G version I am able to make phone calls fine but just can't send or receive messages.
