Having taken the latest update to the Galaxy Wearable (Samsung Gear) app on the Play Store - version 2.2.32.20071661 - I can no longer complete the setup of my Gear Fit 2 Pro watch to my ZTE Axon 10 phone (running Android).

I have tried multiple routes including:

  • Rebooting the watch
  • Rebooting the phone
  • Forgetting all bluetooth connection on the phone
  • Uninstalling the Galaxy Wearable app and re-installing
  • Clearing storage data on the Galaxy Wearable app

No matter the approach the result is always the same:

  1. Reboot the watch
  2. Open the Galaxy Wearable app on the phone
  3. Search for devices - finds the Gear Fit 2 Pro - select it
  4. A bluetooth pairing request shows - I accept it
  5. On phone and watch the "Pairing Underway" screen shows
  6. Nothing else happens - the process never completes - I notice that the phone has dropped the bluetooth connection to the watch and nothing I do can connect it again

At present the watch is not usable.

Note: This. was not an issue until the latest update to the Galaxy Wearable (Samsung Gear) app. Before the update I had no trouble connecting the same phone and watch together and it had been working flawlessly for over 3 months.

Any ideas on how to solve this? Will Samsung fix this issue in future update to the Galaxy Wearable (Samsung Gear) app?

Ok have finally got them to connect again 😀 but it takes a lot of steps!

  1. Reboot watch
  2. Forget any existing bluetooth connection to the Gear Fit 2 Pro from your phones bluetooth settings
  3. Uninstall the Samsung Accessory Service app from your phone
  4. Uninstall the Gear Fit2 Plugin app from your phone (had to do this through Play Store search as it doesn't show in the installed apps)
  5. Uninstall the Galaxy Wearable (Samsung Gear) app from your phone
  6. Reboot the phone
  7. Install the Galaxy Wearable (Samsung Gear) app from the Play Store
  8. Open the Galaxy Wearable (Samsung Gear) app
  9. Search for devices - finds the Gear Fit 2 Pro - select it
  10. Accept pairing request and subsequent request to install the additional pluginGear Fit2 Plugin and Samsung Accessory Service apps (and associated permissions)
  11. It completes the setup :party-popper:
