Why does the volume seem to be very low now? No matter what setting it try they done seem to be as loud as when I first got them

I have buds live and I found that after a software update the volume dropped quite a bit

Have you tried resetting the sound? Turn of the tablet or phone then turn it on while holding the power button and the volume up button. Ihad to do it a few times when I put my headphones in
