One of the recent updates screwed the frequency response in anc off mode. Earlier they sounded pretty much the same in every mode. Now they sound tinny. Thought it was only me but people have been complaining on Reddit as well. Cleaning the mic grill didn't help one bit. What happened?

Try different settings and say what you think. Anc and transparency are fine but anc off feels like it had some midbass scooped out of it.

Personally I think that's an issue since I bought mine purely based on objective sound quality to apply my own equalizer. Now the objective measurements are outdated and until someone remeasures, we can only do trial and error by ear. 

I know most people will be fine as long as they can listen to their podcasts but who needs 200$ earbuds for that. Bottom line is Samsung apparently changed a core property of their product for no good reason which seems dishonest.
