Original topic:

Brightness "outdoor mode" does not activate anymore

Normally, when outside in bright light, "outdoor mode" for brightness activates: the brightness goes to 100% automatically and cannot be adjusted to a lower level (the brightness-setting is intentionally readonly).

All of a sudden this functionality does not work anymore, and my watch stays at the pre-set brightness level 2, which makes the watch not readable in daylight. Until a couple of days ago everything worked fine.

To fix this, I tried all the steps on the Samsung trouble-shoot page https://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshooting/TSG01003135/ :

  • enabling/disabling 'auto low-brightness' (which does work fine, so it seems my problem is not a physical sensor-issue), enabling/disabling power saving-mode, etc...
  • rebooting the watch
  • rebooting my phone
  • checking damage (no damage)
  • and finally factory-resetting and re-installing the watch

None of them solved the issue.

Anyone any ideas, or the same problem?

Watch: Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2.

This turned out to be a hardware issue. After repairing my smartwatch now works as intended again.
