Ambient sound not working

I recently bought brand new Samsung galaxy buds from ebay. The volume is very low on them and quick ambient sound turns down the music but does not pick sound around me and the main ambiant sound mode doesn't work at all. Is this a hardware problem or a software problem. I do have the latest update.

Which phone do you have them connected to? Have you tried disconnecting, and reconnecting them?

Thanks for confirming.

Have you tried resetting the Galaxy Buds as well? To do so, open the Galaxy Wearable app, select the About Earbuds option at the bottom, and select Reset Earbuds. Let me know if you've tried this.

Yeah I've done that. I'm hoping it's a software update as I read somewhere that the bus volume is now only linked to the phone volume rather than the buds own volume.
