This has been going on since OneUI1.. Samsung does not gives you dark mode for the Email client (and a few other stock apps) when using a third party theme. EVEN IF that 3rd party theme is dark mode version. I think that's a very nasty trick by Samsung, and not sure why they would do that, as it was available prior to OneUI (which caused me to spend well over £50 on themes). The thing I dont like with OneUI 1 and 2 are the icons.

I like experimenting with themes too.. before OneUI I bought over £50 worth. But since update, not many as I dont like the fact that my emails are blinding white. I do alot of emails.

I've asked similar and was adviser to go and ask the developer of the theme, but I dont think the problem lies with them. I've tried over a 100 themed, both brand new ones and old veterans and not one seems to have the dark mode used on the default email app. The SMS, keyboard, menu and calendar are all able to take the colour of the theme but not the default Samsung email app. This makes me now know that fault lies with Samsung and their OneUI. So my question is, can Samsung please make it available for other themes to utilise the dark / night option on all your native apps, in particular, the email app.

I do like your reply and I agree with you on the many customisation options that are available to Android, and in particular Samsung (via Good lock). However, my caviate with this is a big why should I have to be playing catch up with Samsung? They broke, what I believed was the best version of Android on any smart phone. They have created a version of Android that is geared towards larger screen devices, but is of no good to my S9. I am also not happy with the fact that I have to be doing all this work, and it just seems like they are doing steps to stop me from fixing what they broke. I am reffereing to the update that stopped me from rolling back to a previous version of Android. Don't get me wrong, I do like Samsung and think that they are quiet inovative with their phones and the best looking smart phone on the market. BUT, they are getting a tad carried away with their R&D department and now not listining to its users and dropping every and any update out there.

Better yet, we should be able to feel confident in the knowledge that Samsung is actively listening to us and that their software development does not take a dive down the ridiculous (as it has with this OneUI).. and if it has, they will make steps to put it right or at least to apese our dislike.

I still would like to see the S10 as my next handset, but will sadly not do so whilst this OneUI (in it's current sate) is in existence on that phone.

And another thing that I have noticed that they have done is make themes not fully compatible with the full UI. Example, if i chose a theme, no mater if its dark or not, the email is always white. Also, when you go to file explorer with the dark them you purchased, the fots are not visible... basically, the theme just not fully incorporates with the phone. This annouance I have found with more than one themes. With Samsung Oreo, i had spent over £20 on themes... Now, with this update to OneCrap... I mean OneUI, I have lost all the beauty of those themes and now have to use the default Samsung theme with the ugly icons (in dark mode). I came to Samsung from BlackBerry (and Huawei). This to me at the time was the best version of Android out there on a smartphone.. the UI was so intuiative and just asteticaly beautiful. NOW, I do not feel the same way and currently looking to see what my next phone would be, which before this silly OneUI, was going to be a Samsung S10. Don't think so now. Will see whatelse is out there... The OnePlus looks promissing.

I did the same... kept getting bothered to update. Turned off in Debug mode, and then eventually upgraded... well, accidentally clicked the "install now "button. Can't be asked to start afresh again with Odin. I do miss my sweet looking Samsung S9 running Oreo look.

So as said before, one is then left with a nice theme and icons and a blinding white background for emails or any other aspect of the UI that the theme does not change. :-(
