Thanks going to try that, and I've tried that "take it into a store", about my wifi calling and mms not working, the Samsung " expert" there said "yeah mine does that once in a while as well" and handed my phone back

Nope I'm not UK this was the top thread that came up when I was looking a while back, but he's right I'm pretty sure, seems when the phone goes off it kills GPS, mine seems to be immediate as ill let the screen close at 15 secs and have to unlock right after, I took maps and location services out of the battery optimization and no luck, was hoping it would stop doze from killing them

No Samsung members app, not sure where to get not seeing it in play store or galaxy apps, I have the Samsung+ app but not seeing any support feature with error reporting just social, community and support numbers

My drift was random so i couldn't do specific points, i did tgr circle around my house but no luck, I'm working on a two app fix right now just gotta configure it, tasker and secure settings, supposed to pin lock phone when you disconnect from home wifi, remove lock when connected, would be nice to have a feature like that in smart lock, probably more reliable

Heres grab from a video of it drifting around my house, I would say that's within 10 meters so not much of a claim more reality, not sure your end game here, simple fact is clearing the app cache did not work the multiple times I've tried it so you just banging your head against a wall here, location of my home, city or not is of no consequence

Not really typing this out again so c&p: " Pretty sure a few of us have said before this has not worked for us, hell I even did a factory reset and it hasn't worked, I'm assuming a factory reset clears the cache as well"

Luckily my device lock works with my watch but if I'm at work id rather not have that enabled, if I'm not near my phone but within blue tooth range its not secure

Adding this post of mine from other thread that shows what I've tried: " Yes, cleared cache, cleared data, cleared dalvik, erased smart locations, put them back, used home, used coords for home, set home location then 8 more around the house overlapping home location (N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW), force stopped maps, used GPS keeper which worked for a week, set the home location in samsung account, turned off battery optimization for location services and maps and basically anything I could find that said location, turned off app power monitor, I've done a factory reset, and I'm sure someone will ask so yes my high accuracy mode is on with the wifi bluetooth scanning Edit: I've also tried other 3rd party apps to fix gps, and registered my location with 911 services just in case that location was needed, highly doubt that though, not sure about other providers but for the sprint calling plus you have to, which coincidentally the wifi calling rarely works either, nor does SMS/mms work properly"

started a new topic because someone marked the last one as solved and there's still people posting there with the same ongoing issue for months now and I know once it's mark as solved wether it actualy is or not it gets ignored, several of us cannot use the device location smart lock, can clear dalvik, clear maps cache, restart phone, everything and it works for maybe an hour or two then back to unlocking while home in the marked location, this doesn't only effect the smart lock as I have a few apps (IFTTT, Life360, Vudu) that use geofencing and its rendering them useless, particularly Life360 as it's on my young daughters phone so we know when she leaves home and enters school safely but nope, not anymore, it seems when the screen goes off and the battery saving rest mode garbage kicks in it's killing gps because I can open maps and see my location has drifted a few miles from where i actualy am and then it will snap back, and even while open I can see my location drifitng around my yard, basically moving out of home location and back, yes I have the high accuracy on and wi-fi scanning and bluetooth scanning, this is getting really old and annoying that this has been going on for months and no fix and it just started doing this after an update, I thought the oreo update may have fixed the issue but no luck, here's the old thread since i don't feel like going through and copy pasting the stuff that has been tried https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/Smartphones-Tablets-Wearables/S8-smart-lock-trusted-location-issue/m-p/496039#M17861

Set it that way before, I'd go to add trusted location, click the bottom in the bottom right to center on me and add so it shows home and basically a second home with coords but never fixed it for me, even went hack to the beginning of the thread and tried the post labeled solved, clear cache, still unlocking everytime

They do but problem is this is a 2 month old post now and they haven't done anything, and it got marked as solved, luckily my upgrade date is coming soon and it will not he another samsung

No luck with that for me either, still unlocking everytime I'm home unless I use trusted devices, I've taken google maps and location services off the battery saving *****, and turned off the battery saver, still get drift

No luck, had to unlock every time I used at home after going through those steps, gave up just doing the device proximity to keep it unlocked now, still sucks because it messes up the stuff I have set for geofencing

Cleared the cache before, probably when you posted before but going to give it a shot again, got the update last week so maybe the combination will fix it plus did a factory reset the other day, so cleared cache, restarted, cleared cache. I know doing the multiple spots seemed to help but it would be nice to not have a list of coords for one place.

Have it set to high accuracy, I know I basically have no cell tower near me, think the closest is about 5 miles, but the location and smart lock worked perfectly until an update a little while back, did a factory reset last night so crossing my fingers

Unfortunately mine seems to randomly drift, once it said I was about 5 miles SW in a lake, trying to set up a location based IFTTT last night it had me about 2 miles NW

I went into settings>device maintenance>battery>battery usage, press three dots in top right, optimize battery usage, choose all apps, then went down to location services and unselected it, seems to be working now, I know after update when screen went off GPS would go off and location would drift so took it off of the battery optimization so hopefully it runs while screen off, not sure but seems to have been working since I did that yesterday, to verify that's on my s8

I could live with the GPS being goofy but not being able to use WiFi calling when I have no cell service here is a major issue so it's just compounding now, and that was supposed to be xda not cad

Nothing worked for mine more then a couple hours, just opened maps again and it was way off and I haven't gone anywhere all day, it took a second and popped back to where it's supposed to be, seems like the location services just aren't working with screen off now, about to pop over to cad and see if they've rooted and rommed the s8 so I can at least have a functioning phone

Neither method fixes the issue for me, just did the remove trusted locations, wipe cache, reboot, redo the location lock, never went anywhere to throw off the GPS, in fact I just woke from a nap and still needed to unlock because the GPS had me in a lake a couple miles away, and just recentering the GPS won't work because you gotta unlock to get to it, I'm just going to tie it to a Bluetooth device in the house for the smart lock, honestly this phone is a nightmare, nothing but problems

My smart lock just stopped as well, going to wipe cache in a moment but saw the previous post and I agree, releasing s9 already when there still so many problems with the s8, that's c**p, my s8 still can't even do WiFi calling, been months since I switched over from the s7 which I had no problem with, and I've seen on the web and was informed by sprint the WiFi calling is a KNOWN issue Samsung is working on, I get it's a business and it's all about money, but fix stuff or don't expect customer loyalty, know I'm not going to a s9 if the s8 I paid way to much for still doesn't work
