Hi Folks, Over the last few days, I've been getting a popup message on my A5 (2017) phone saying that I had an urgent update and it was something related to Samsung Health. When I click on the 'Update' button, nothing happens. It's a bit suspicious. If there's a way of adding attachments to posts, I'll add a screenshot. Has anyone else had this?

Hi Folks, Having just dug into this a bit further, it appears that Google has a set of 'Quality Guidelines' with which app developers should comply. See https://developer.android.com/docs/quality-guidelines/. It covers a range of topics including Tablet app quality. A developer should check their app against 'The Google Play Console' which then creates an 'Optimization Tips page'. It is not clear to me what happens next. I guess it would be possible to explore this even further so, for anyone with some time to spare, here is something to keep you occupied on those dark Winter nights! spinon

I don't think it says that an app will not work on your device. Isn't the wording something like 'not optimised for your device'? One reply on this thread explains that it is related to screen resolution. Apparently, some devices will appear to stretch what's on screen.

Me again! I just tried a few experiments. I found an oscilloscope app and spectrum analyzer app so I can now see the sounds being emitted by my devices. Toggling the switches described in my last post did not stop the sounds being broadcast from my Galaxy Tab S2. I used a Galaxy A5 (2017) to 'listen' to any audio signals. But, I was able to get my Tab to emit high frequency audio by using Samsung Smart Switch. I set Smart Switch to the Wireless transfer option and selected 'Send', then 'Connect'. After a few warbling sounds (I could hear them), it then produced the high frequency (near ultrasonic) audio. So, what does this demonstrate? There is at least one app on my Tab that possibly replicates what you guys are hearing. If I had more time, I would explore further. As I said in previous posts on this thread, I strongly suspect that this is Google Nearby in action. Read up about it and good luck! spinon

Hi, Would it be possible for someone to check in Settings > Connections > Tablet/Phone Visibility to see if this is off or on? And also in Settings > Connections > More connection settings > Nearby device scanning to check if that is off or on? It is just possible (and I repeat possible) that toggling one and/or both these settings may stop the beeping. I can't easily check this myself as I can't hear the beeps and I don't have a decent oscilloscope handy. spinon

I realize that you asked this question a year ago and got very few replies. But I bought a Galaxy A5 (2017) very recently and it already had the Samsung Members app installed out of the box. I am in the UK. When I try to start this app, all I get is an on-screen message saying "Please Wait". But that's as far as it gets. Has anyone else in the UK seen this? Thanks.

Well, that's a pretty poor show. For business users, this is not what they would want to hear. But they've probably known for some time that this would be the outcome. What happens to the Knox platform, which is still installed on my Tab S2 (as shown in 'About Device')? Is it redundant? It doesn't make sense - I've just purchased a shiny, new Galaxy A5 (2017) phone, which incorporates Secure Folder. So, ***** am I, with a great, bonus feature on my tablet that I can no longer use. Hi AntS, I don't need to access data that I previously had in My Knox - not for the foreseeable future. That data is backed up to Samsung servers following the instructions provided to me in a Samsung email. I simply want to install Secure Folder on my Tab S2. Surely, Samsung intended to replace My Knox with Secure Folder - so when will it happen? spinon

OK, many thanks. My Knox is a separate platform in which one can create, edit and save, documents. The name 'Secure Folder' implies a secure storage area for documents, etc. But information that I have received from Samsung led me to believe that Secure Folder is a complete replacement for My Knox. No doubt AntS will clarify the situation.

Hi KristaK, It's reassuring to know that I'm not alone with this problem! Your comment about apps misbehaving is interesting and a useful starting point. Although I have many of these 'not optimised' apps installed on my Tab S2, I haven't seen any misbehaving. But, I will check some of them to see if I can replicate the 'not rotating' problem. My guess is that it's something to do with our device settings, possibly display related. Let's keep going until we crack it! spinon

Hi Folks, I keep getting the message 'This app may not be optimised for your device' for various apps on Google Play Store. I have contacted Google about this but not yet had a reply. I have a Galaxy Tab S2 8" (SM-T713) and it is running Android 7.0. An example app is OneSync by MetaCtrl. But if I visit the same app in Play Store using a Nexus 5 device, the message does not appear. The Nexus 5 is running Android 6.0.1. I have tried other things, which would suggest this is not related to Android version. So, that implies that it may be device related. Is anyone else seeing this when using Play Store? Thanks in advance.

I have not used the S8+ but I just wonder if that phone makes use of something called 'Google Nearby'. This technology employs ultrasonics to communicate between devices. For people like me in my sixties, I can't hear it but younger people probably can. I have this on my Tab S2 and I cannot hear it but it shows up with the right test setup.

No, 1% to 8% CPU usage is normal. Does your battery drain quickly, regardless of the screen being on or off (i.e. in sleep/standby)? What is your CPU temperature shown on Resource Monitor Mini?

Hi, What changes were made to your A3 that could explain the sudden increase in battery drain? Any system update? Did you install a new app around that time? It may be worth installing Resource Monitor Mini, which will enable you to see CPU load and CPU temperature in the notification bar. Sounds like your CPU is working hard, which it should not be doing all the time. spinon

I searched Galaxy Apps for 'Secure Folder' to no avail. Zilch. I followed the link that you provided to Google Play Store and found Secure Folder but it said that it was incompatible with my device. So I'm not having much joy. Please advise.
