In my tablets case this is an intermittent problem and it can be days between the problem cropping up (with no apparent rhyme or reason to when it will as long as its a cold boot - that seems to be the only common factor I can think of). My thoughts are that given my device has had a factory data reset since Android 10 was installed and Ive always turned off the automatically connect option referred to above (as was the case with Android 9), I don't see how it can be anything other than an issue with the new ROM/firmware thats causing this. These have only recently received the Android 10 update (along with my 2018 Tab A). My Pixel 3 XL Phone is on Android 11 (and working very well) but not all manufacturers roll out their updates at the same time. is there anything in particular that you need Android 11 for? Hi Austroplebeia, I have a Tab A 2018 10.5" model which won't reliably initialise/start the WiFi hardware from a cold boot since updating to Android 10 - occasionally it boots with WiFi toggled on but not finding any networks even though the router is working fine with my phone connected to it at the same time. There are other similar reports here so it will be due to firmware/ROM issues. I have factory data reset (ie the full wipe) mine after the Android update but its made no difference. When I used to work as a computer technician this sort of 'failure to start this hardware' error was something I occasionally encountered and a new Windows driver would always solve it. it seems like this could be an Android equivalent to that sort of driver bug. FWIW my Kernel is version 3.18.124-18974136 but there seems to be a few people reporting such problems with their WiFi since updating to Android 10 (where it was fine beforehand). ... View more

Hi Bill, In a way its a relief to see your post. YES YES YES I'm getting that same problem cold booting my Tab A (albeit the 2018 10.5" version of the Tablet *these are not phones Andrew*). Just like your example it was sweet as a nut under Android 9 and its ONLY since this 'upgrade' (and I use the word with reservations) to Android 10 that this has occurred. Just as in your case its only Cold boots that cause the problem (although many cold boots initialise WiFi fine ie its an intermittant fault on my device). Soooo glad to find your report after spending a hour on chat with Samsung support trying to convince them its something that they need to look at with their new Android 10 build rather than asking me to do (another) factory data reset. I had a similar experience with my Smart TV and IPlayer which I fixed by turning off my broadband providers 'smart shield' service. Unless the cellular connection that you've also tested with also has such a service built in, that won't explain how the test using the phone didn't work however. My suggestion would be to talk with your ISP to see if there's anything like this that you can turn off to see if it makes a difference. My Hub 4 on resetting to factory defaults, seemed to reinitialise the ISPs smart shield service so I had to go into their web interface and manually kill that separately. In my experience there's alot of fear mongering that goes on with regard to using a European bought device in a different European country. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2018 10.5 which was bought from Amazon Warehouse UK but which is an item designed for the Italian Market. On initial setup it wanted to default to the Italian language but I just set it to UK English instead and it set itself up as if it was entirely British. I have to say this MAY vary for other Samsung devices but I can only say in my case buying this version saved me alot of money and Ive not encountered a single problem as a result. Some countries do have different WiFi/Cellular frequencies and in this regard motherboards/circuitry may vary slightly between the same model but from different countries. The most notable example is Samsungs use of different SOCs for Europe vs USA and South Korea in some recent high end devices (Samsungs own vs Qualcomm) but the differences aren't always that significant. The charger will also come with prongs to fit the 'local' mains wall sockets for the market it was intended for. In my case that wasn't a problem because I bought a 'pogo charger cradle'' for my Tab A and it came with a UK Mains charger so I'm now covered for UK use and if I go on holiday with it in a country that uses 'EU' style plugs - I just take whichever charger is needed for the country I'm going to. If there is a problem that you want to claim under the warranty, this may necessitate you doing it in the country of purchase but how likely is that to crop up? ... View more

If nothing that you're aware of brought this on, when you last shut it down, if it still had some charge left but you put it on charge, my guess is that a power surge down the mains (perhaps associated with a thunderstorm) may have fried it. You haven't stated the condition under which it failed - was it that it stopped charging ie the battery had become flat so it wouldn't power up and connecting chargers made no difference or it simply stopped working as in was working OK but then while you were using it, the screen went off and nothing you've tried will resurrect it. 'Stopped charging/working' doesnt give any leads as to whats going on. If its just where you can take it in order to have it looked at professionally, Samsung have stores located in many cities within many countries. The Samsung website for your country will tell you where your nearest store is. I've never needed to have a repair undertaken but in my experience they did offer excellent training about my product at both of my 'local' stores. ... View more

Have you dropped it, got it wet or has it been charging during a lightning storm (we've had thunderstorms in a big way where I live a few weeks ago)? Before it stopped switching on was it working fine and then you turned it off with some charge remaining or did it power off because it ran out of charge (or maybe during an update)? I'm trying to get at what YOU think may have bought this on. Did it have intermittent charging before it gave up the ghost altogether ie you had to wiggle the plug around sometimes to get a good connection? What brought this on - has it been intermittently charging recently like there may be a loose connection? Have you tried using a different (known compatible) charger or battery pack? If the battery has fully depleted, that'll explain why it won't switch on again (until its at least got a few mins charge in reserve at least). if the battery has gone fully flat and you plug in a charger, even then many devices won't switch on straight away so if you'vevtried a different, known compatible and working charger and got no-where, leave it connected and charging for 5 min before trying again to switch it on. Is the buzz present both when the Tab A is on charge and entirely unplugged (apart from the headphones)? If the buzz goes away when its not on charge, if you've got a 3rd party charger you're using, try swapping back the original Samsung one. Not all headphone plugs are wired the same way either so do you have a different set of headphones/headset that you can plug in or even some Bluetooth ones to try? ... View more

As already mentioned, preservatives etc drying in the dryer during its first few usees may explain this. Aside from the initial clean wash empty, maybe you can use scent booster pellets in the first few washes and dry a few things initially that it doesn't really matter too much what they smell like (hand towels/tea towels) just until the smell goes. If it doesn't go after a few more uses (and assuming there's no smoke or burning smell at all during those initial uses - it doesn't sound like there is), THEN I'd be concerned and contact the seller. If you have a read of the manual, you'll probably find a warning in there about smells during the first few uses for this reason - it sounds like this is normal (so far). ... View more

There is something called the 'bathtub curve' which tells us some items will fail very early on - have you heard of 'Friday afternoon' items? The idea is its imagined it may have been rushed when being assembled due to someone being in a hurry to get home for the weekend and not having their mind on the job. That said, if this is really the issue and the motor has failed, it should be free to get it fixed under the warranty and ask to see the defective motor when the technician takes it out and compare it with the new one to be installed. Maybe the technician can point out and show you the failure? I'm not at all familiar with that model but one thing that really stands out is you say the freezer is set to -2 degrees... Perhaps you're in a country where Fahrenheit is the norm but talking Celcius, you should look for something like -19 degrees in the freezer and -2 is FAR to warm. I think you summed this up perfectly in the first sentence. Although cellular/mobile phones and lots of other devices may interfere with WiFi reception and some of these devices may have varying degrees of impact, depending on their signal strength/frequencies etc, ultimately its the responsibility of your routers design to work around these issues. Going forward, if you are using a commercial (3rd party) router for your Internet connectivity, it'd definitely be worth going to the manufacturer's website to see if any firmware upgrades exist for it that you can install to address these problems. If you are using your ISPs default router/hub/gateway, its worth discussing this with their tech support to see what they suggest. The key thing to remember is that problems with your home WiFi are ultimately due to how well the router copes with interference and unless you live inside a giant microwave oven or right beside powerful transmission masts operating at similar frequencies etc, there should always be an expectation for the router to take care of 'interference'. If you are using the ISPs 'free' router, depending on what their Tech support people say, you may find buying and using your own 3rd party router will solve these problems. ... View more
