And I've completed my tests with DTS-X format now.   First connecting via ARC (or supposed eARC), played a demo file created by DTS. And on this, no DTS-X logo showed up on the soundbar. Then I've connected the Shield directly to the soundbar and this time the logo appeared on the soundbar !   So no, the Samsung soundbars are clearly not eARC compatible. Then you can still get Atmos via ARC even from a source using a Dolby true HD Atmos format, because the system will automatically downgrade the signal to Dolby Digital Plus ATmos (DD+), but apparently there is no equivalent process for DTS-X, while maintaining firing up metadata.    And all consumers who got this information from Samsung customer service or from a sales rep can mention these tests to show them they are wrong, they lied to you.    Now this will be your choice to decide or not to continue the fight against Samsung...now that I clearly saw by myself these results I think we should continue and even for further. Using the #earcSamsungGate is first step, fine. But we should create a petition on change.org (if anyone has a better website to create one, feel free to share).  With a petition it will be easier to enroll Samsung customers, we should also not limit this petition to soundbars but also include the 2019 TV owners in this fight. If I'm not wrong I think they are also waiting for a promised eARC update. This petition will be adressed to Samsung, Samsung CEO's, Samsung engineers etc...   I can prepare the text for the petition and share it there for your feedbacks, but unfortunately i won't be able to create it myself. I'm personnaly working for a group linked somehow with Samsung Electronics, hence don't want to take this risk for my personal career. But definitely I can help on its creation and then spread it around. Also this petition will need to be published in every AV forums, on every Reddit topics mentioniong these soundbars / TV issues with eARC. But this won't be enough, we also need to enroll reviewers, tech websites, tech influencers etc...without them this petition will be lost in just few days. But for that you should first stop blaming at tech reviewers who mentioned this eARC update in their reviews ! this is not by attacking them that will join our fight ! and they also have been fooled by Smasung who informed them the products were eARC compatible. After all that testing, you have chosen the worst of the two results. I don't get it.  Did not "test" myself it was not my ears listening to it. But I did this with 2 users and they both reported absolutely no difference in sound quality when it was plugged directly to soundbar or the TV....and honestly as I suggested I really doubt now that this soundbar is even capable of decoding lossless sounds...I mean in all possible configuration it was always the same results, and also I've never seen Samsung officialy mentioning compatibility with Dolby True HD format (go on their website now and search for this, you won't find). All they say is "Dolby Atmos" which we all know can mean Doldy Digital + only (and that Samsung says clearly on their website this is compatible). So my guess is that this soundbar is not able to decode lossless formats and it will automatically downgrade it to DD+ Atmos. So they just let us think that lossless formats can be decoded but maybe not, no official statement on this. And in that case what eARC would be needed for ? nothing. So they just had to say "yes it was done" or "yes it will come" while consumers will finally never find out as the true benefit of eARC would have no effect on this product.   Only thing to really find out the truth finally would be to have a companion app that clearly mention which sound format is decoded in real time by the soundbar. But once again Samsung played this smartly they just have their SmartThings app which is absolutely useless....on AV side, Denon for example has an app that can tell you this, but that's the difference between Denon and Samsung : Samsung does product for all consumers trying to get as much sales as they can so they deliver products that pretend to be experts ones while they're not and then you have Denon who's targeting the "experts" consumers and deliver them the products they deserve...that's it.   So yes I decided to stick with what I have and honestly that's way enough for me ! If one day I really feel the need for lossless audio with up firing speakers, I won't go for a soundbar nor Samsung and I'll for a proper AV kit + speakers of any expert brand ! ... View more

But you're missing the case of an Xbox One X used with an LG OLED 2019 TV. Both are compatible with VRR and ALLM so the Xbox needs to be connected to the TV and Xbox has an Atmos compatibility and even some games have Atmos audio.
