Very interesting PG!!  Maybe it's an Android Pie issue because my friends P20 Pro will go 2 days on a single charge and she's not exactly a tech person and hasn't updated her phone...ever...lol (by this I mean I'm 95% sure she is still running Android Oreo lol!!)     As an additional FYI, TONS of posts have been happening on XDA forums lately about S10 battery drain with a number of people also recently claiming HUGE overnight battery drain (anywhere from 10-20%) and I think I read the same is happening even where people have turned stuff off and put on airplane mode. SOT was nearly 3 hours so not great BUT camera does take up a lot  Especially as I was constantly turning my phone on/off and there is definitely no signala between Sweden and Denmark in the middle of the sea.  Annoyingly I am noticing apps are running in the background (I'm looking at you Uber and a few others) despite turning OFF background and having the app closed...there are definitely also dead spots in the north of Denmark so my phone would have been searching as well.  I also have issues with the keyboard running in the background and eating battery....w...t...f.......I've noticed it a number of times.... ... I am giffgaff in the UK.  I have been travelling Sweden to Denmark and all the north of Denmark today - have had the phone off charge since 6am ans is now 6:20pm. Have taken a lot of pics constantly and had my phone on including for Google maps a fair bit. Am at 38% (I have however turned autosync off as there is no reason to have my email going though back in the UK I prefer to have AS on).  My friend has the S9 and is on Three in Sweden - had his phone out and did the same number of things and he was at 20%... ... I'm really apt to say it's software related and something isn't optimized properly but who knows!   Depending on the region will depend on which processor you have.  Only the US and China have the Snapdragon processors (I don't think Canada does but I might be wrong) ... View more

Even if all processes together wouldn't consume any CPU cycles, just the CPU being powered draws additional energy. Unfortunately for us, Samsung's stock CPU configuration keeps the CPU running at a rather high frequency even when it's near idle. While Pixels may reduce their active cores to one and its frequency into the low hundreds mhz, it seems the S10 keeps powering four cores at around one ghz. This is a monumental waste of power. (Note: CPU power use is fairly linear with frequency, and squared for voltage. "Fairly" and not exactly, because efficiency always goes down with higher energy use, but it's a good rule of thumb) Of course, all these things are only relevant when a notification is actually being showed; if there isn't, the screen goes into ultra-low power mode, and the CPU goes asleep. This is why I generally tend to ignore statements about CPU usage by non-devs, for any apps. It rarely tells a complete picture of what is going on, and even if it did, CPU usage % changes drastically between CPU frequencies. In an aggressively downclocking / powersaving device, the CPU may be downclocked significantly, that could cause running apps to use 40% CPU. Those same apps may run at 5% CPU if the CPU was running full-speed. But, and here comes the kicker: it is likely less power is used on a low clock with high %. Without information about all those factors, the only thing CPU % measurements are good for is noting if a process is actually using abnormally high CPU for sustained periods. Aside from that, they are pretty much useless used from Android's statistics found in the UI. @dani8501- did you do the optimizations that I had suggested? I too get 3% battery drain overnight when left unplugged for a 7-8 hour period on my regular S10. I can't believe Samsung admitted (in some form) that early batches were faulty. I still cannot check which date mine was made...annoying! Well here's to hoping that one of those bug fixes are to do with battery lol. I would say if you've done all the optimizations possible and saw no improvement then I would return as faulty and keep going hahaha. I am now coming up to 37% better life on over 20 hours off charge with 3.5 hours SOT today BUT one of my tasker settings malfunctioned and turned on my location in Google maps and didn't turn it back off for nearly the whole day.  Maps shouldn't be collecting data but you never know...it typically does which means battery drainage.  ... UPDATE:  I've had my phone on for nearly 14 hours (unplugged at 90% battery at about/around midnight last night, woke up usual at 7:10am, plugged phone in at about 7:35am for 10 mins charge before I left the house for work [at which the phone was at 87% charge but wanted to top it up to approx 90% which I did -because of this extra charge it doesn't count it as a single/holistic charge so have made time-based notes]) and I am at 70% battery.  It has recorded about 1.5 hours SOT but think it's been more than that (I swear it under-records the actual time on...) as I've been on/off my phone quite a bit with Whatsapp, email, etc. though for short periods of time which is harder on the battery.  My device idle is incredibly low at 1% and I can only think it is because of my Tasker tasks, having disabled wifi completely from 9am (this way I can connect to the incredibly insecure tube wifi networks as I pass through them on my way to work lol), and whenever my screen/display is turned off, my battery is set to go immediately into battery saver mode.  As I am at the 70% mark now, my battery saver mode should be turned on from here to the rest of the day until it is plugged in again. ... (I tried writing this while I was on my way to work but couldn't login on my phone so this is a copy/paste of what I had originally written)   Yes. Yesterday I had around 7 hours sot and was doing some heavy stuff on it - had an issue with Google Play where it wasn't installing apps which at one point drained my battery considerably (found out I had blocked a necessary app for installing apps lol - whoops!).  Have patience though as I don't expect results absolutely right away and especially when I'm part-way through the day.   I have automated my phone and changed my behaviour to see what I get (I will continue to find automation techniques as well as I saw on Reddit some people able to squeeze out an extra day or twos' worth of battery on their phones [not S10]). I now am charging my phone to about 90% before I go to sleep and then take it off charge for the night.   I have automated Glimpse to stop working at about 10:30pm until about 7:30am and then automatically turn on     I have automated several things in Tasker - now from 11:30pm to 7:30am every night my phone automatically goes into medium power mode, auto sync is off for that time, screen brightness is lowered, and display is timed to about 20 seconds.  Then from 7:31am onwards everything comes back on (this being 15 mins before I leave my flat for work generally so that things can download over wifi, etc.).  In the same time period (7.5 hours) last night I lost 3% battery total as opposed to the night before where I lost around about 4%.  It's only 1% but it all eventually adds up in my eyes.   I have also automated location settings so they are off unless I am "in" certain apps that I know need access to location data but I don't want location to be "on" on my phone (I even made my phone notify me when I go into/out of the app that location is turned on/off lol!!).   I've automated that whenever my display is off, then my phone goes into medium power saving mode.   When my phone is on charge, it will remain in "optimized" mode regardless of battery %   When my phone reaches 70% battery I have it automatically switch to medium power saver mode (it's easy enough to change the % but I'm starting here)   I have it set so far based on day of week and time, to turn wifi off so that when I am at work it isn't pinging servers looking for wifi (I don't connect to company wifi)     So far have done all my normal networking and phone tasks this morning and instead of losing 5-6% battery in the same timeframe, I've lost 3%.  Not sure if it has anything to do with my automation or whether I've just not done my "usual routine" on the tube of playing candy crush but rather been typing on here.  Either way I will take it (though I have played some CC and checked FB/LI quickly while on my way to work)   I will be constantly tweaking these to make it better as I go (especially as I've just realized that Whatsapp backs up at 2am for which I've stopped...so might need to make an exception) but I've at least started with a baseline which was a lot more than what I had previously.  Still trying to figure out how I can keep autosync on during the day for emails and stuff but make my phone/Whatsapp back up to Google Drive at a specific state (e.g. on wifi AND plugged in [any type]) - I'm sure it's possible! ... I left mine unplugged overnight as well just to see. In a 7.5 hour period I had a battery drain of 4% total which I don't think is too bad though I was hoping for less lol - that said I do have Tasker running as well (I didn't enable airplane mode or anything but I know my phone tends to backup during the night  - I'm not sure if it backed up).  What a HUGE difference on SOT though on 4G!!  ...
