It's quite another to escalate the issue and have it dismissed as "working to specification" by the Presidential Escalations Team Manager, particularly when it surfaces that at least 10% of customers are experiencing the same issue. Each customer with a faulty TV should not have to prove and re-explain the issue to 4 or 5 people, especially not when escalated.   I came to you for clarification on the resolution process. I've replied with:   I understand why a given figure may not be exact but the difference between 1GB and 15MB is not a question of precision. I would appreciate if you could acquire accurate figures for the space requirements of the preinstalled OS and apps. I would be very much surprised if the OS and pre-installed apps together amount to much more than 1GB, nevermind the 3.8GB you're asking me to accept is the case.   The NU8000 TV has effectively the same amount of 'used' storage out-of-the-box as the NU7 series - roughly 800MB. However, it has over 2GB unused and available to the end user. Are you able to confirm the total storage advertised for the NU8000?   I never confirmed I am not experiencing any specific problem. In my first email to you and the one previous to this, I described my issue: my TV is unable to update preinstalled apps - prior to installing any others - due to insufficient internal storage space. This is a symptom of the root problem and that root is what I am discussing with you. Again, this has been observed and confirmed as a known fault by several levels of Samsung's support team. This would not be the case if the TV was working to Samsung specification.   It is not plausible the TV has 4GB of storage and only 150MB is available to me. The TV shows only 1GB total storage. However, this is not the case. Out of the box, my UE55NU7400 shows 1GB total storage with a mere <150mb is available with over 700mb occupied by pre-installed apps. I have reset Smart Hub several times and also reset the TV using the available options in Settings. Sadly, this yields the same result each time - there is never anywhere near 1GB available for me to use. This was also done remotely by a Samsung support agent when I initially reported the issue.   Given the significant inconvenience of setting up login credentials, etc. each time I do a reset, I am reticent to do it again knowing the result will be the same. If absolutely necessary, though, I will video another reset to show evidence of my experience as explained above.   I mentioned in my first message to you that this issue had been reported towards the end of last year. Since then and as recently as yesterday there are end users purchasing NU7000 series, discovering an unacceptable lack of usable storage space and reporting it to Support and the Samsung Community forums.   The details you have confirmed show what some end users are experiencing is not intended behaviour. Just finished a 1 hour 10 minute call to Samsung (can't believe I've become one of 'those' customers). First person couldn't tell me anything new - "We're aware of the issue. It's with the engineers. Don't worry, we'll get back to you when we have a fix".   I asked to speak to their supervisor - same spiel with them too.   I asked to have it ecalated to the "higher escalations" team (Customer Resolutions is the actual team name) and was put through to someone in the UK (pleasant surprise). This time, I asked, "In the event firmware updates are ineffective, what's the timescale before alternative solutions are explored, ie. replacement with a different model?" He didn't know but said he'd assign my account to himself and ask the question to head office. I'm expecting a callback on Thursday with an update.   If I can't get an answer to this question, I don't have much hope for a resolution - as was mentioned earlier, they could just drag it out until the warranty expires... ... Page 71 from the e-manual ( http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/201901/20190102115403583/ENG_KM2DVBEUN-3.0.2_181205.0.pdf ) states "If the TV's internal memory is insufficient, you can install some specific apps on a USB device." This is the 'solution' being offered to us but it doesn't address the inability to update apps installed on the TV due to insufficient space. It's misdirection, honestly. ... View more

I got a pop-up message to say there was insufficient space to update installed applicatons and that was prior to me installing anything. I called support and was advised the TV should have 4GB total storage. They did a remote session on the TV, resetting, etc. They concluded it didn't have the space it should and I should use a USB stick to install apps onto. I didn't consider this acceptable so I asked to speak to someone else. The second person said they were aware of the issue and a firmware update would be released in ten working days to fix it (tomorrow will be the tenth day). However, after speaking to others with the same issue - some who've had engineers out to change motherboards but to no effect - this is clearly not an issue that can be fixed by a firmware update. All these reports have been TVs in the NU7*** range. Strangely, the MU6*** had more storage so I'm baffled as to why the NU7 series has been crippled like this. Aside from this, the TV is great. Either there's a terrible lack of communication within the support team or they're making case-by-case decisions on the fly. The one positive is that both hardware (motherboard change) and software 'solutions' are apparently being worked on concurrently.
