I have to say, the latest May update installed on my S10 and the photos are quite simply still.......absolutely rubbish.   Don't even get me started on "night" mode as that is a whole new level of junk.   At this stage, I am just resigning myself to the fact that Samsung are unable to fix the camera in the S10's and are so far behind the game now I don't think they can recover from that. Their competitors leap-frogged them in the camera department, not sure if Samsung just got complacent, lazy or whatnot but it is a sad show to see them comprehensively smashed in a department that they used to be lauded for.   First phone I have ever had that is a "meh" device and I am now just biding my time until Google produce the Pixel 4 which I think we all know is going to utterly destroy this phone given that the 3 is already doing this. ... Let's be honest, Samsung quality control is hanging apart right now and they are reeling from the embarrassment that was the "pioneering" fold.   I doubt their focus is on fixing this camera along with everything else wrong with the phone............it wont be fixed any time soon.   The game is lost IMO, Samsung hardware and cameras have completely failed in the present smartphone company and the S10 will NEVER be able to come close to the current flagship stack. I mean, the Pixel 3a camera absolutely wrecks the S10 at a fraction of the cost. Just imagine what the Pixel 4 is going to do to it.   Sad times.   First time I have ever thought of my Samsung phone as a "meh" device and it truly is right now.   I needed a phone quick and liked how the S10 looked and felt and couldn't be bothered switching to the (what i think is inferior) Huawei EMUI.    A bit grim that the only praise I can give a £1000 device is how it looks and feels. Seems you do get something though as I get absoluitely nothing regardless of the application doing the notifying :/   I know there is an awful lot of discussion around this and so many are pinning hopes on Samsung fixing it but as I said, I was told that they are not and that the suggestion is the edge lighting.   I guess that includes the Good Lock add-on that allows the "eclipse" lighting around the camera cutout but with edge lighting in general not working for me, this doesnt either.   Poor show   J ... Correct.   It is quite terrible.   I did some comparisons last night in a low light (low light, not no light) scenario, S10 (night mode triggered) vs S7Edge and while the S10 was ever so slightly brighter, the actual image it took was horrific. The S7 Edge picture had more detail and less noise but they were both a fudgy mess. And the s7 did it without any scene optimiser cobblers.   The S7 Edge is from 2016 and IMO, it is absolutely on par with the S10 in almost every regard with the camera. Obviously only excluding the ultra wide and zoom lenses.   The irony is, using pro mode provides a bit of an improvement in general photography. But you cannot use the fancy lenses in pro mode.    It is quite staggering how bad it is. ... View more

With the greatest respect Colin........tinfoil and hot glue is actually embarrassing. Oneplus should be ashamed.   That is not the same as what has been done to fool the S10 scanner. To put it into context, the S10 scanner was bypassed without any contact with the owners prints. None.   Was done with a detailed 3d print from a photo. A PHOTO of a fingerprint on a glass.   Despite Qualcomm stating that they map blood flow and pores in the skin etc etc to prevent this.   So we need to know if Samsung are just not using the full security of Qualcomms scanner through software or if it is indeed not able to do this at all.     ... It is *currently* worse than the S7e....................sitting with both here.   Samsung are absolutely cranking the noise in the pictures, anyone that says otherwise are wrong.   Sure you can shoot RAW but i think only in pro mode and you will take bad pictures for about a week   Shame that other phones can fire out JPEGS out of the box that are stunning. ...
