I went into the system apps and turned off every option I could under the Bixby name, revoked all permissions and disabled what I could. I have the exact same experience. Hard earned money on great hardware only for Samsung to come along and ruin it. I have never used bixby and I'm likely never going to. I know Samsung may have invested millions on bixby development but it doesn't hold a candle to Google assistant. And Samsung figured the only way forward for bixby is to force it down the customer's throat. Well you know what Samsung, I use a lite UAG S9 case and I cut out the bixby button on it so I won't accidentally press it anymore and summon the useless assistant. While I can understand Samsung has pumped in millions if not billions on bixby, forcing it down the throat of phone users like me is in poor taste. I mean I made a sizeable investment in buying their phone this just makes me want to take my business elsewhere next time. And I realise that one person's £700 may not sound like a big deal to Samsung but still doesn't change the fact that they think they know best. I did get a small work around... I disabled the bixby voice features and then, since I use an Urban Armour Guard case, I used a small knife to remove the bixby button on the case. Now I can't accidentally press the button while going for the volume... Still sucks that I have to go to this extreme to ignore bixby. Seriously, Samsung makes great hardware why can't they leave the software to the pros? That or give the users the control? Jeez ... View more

Can't agree more. I don't understand why anyone would use bixby when we have Google assistant. Plus I hate it that they want to force you to use the stupid bixby so called assistant. At least earlier we had the option to disable it on the S9. Now with the new update, we can only change it to one or two presses of the button?? What a load of bull**** ... View more
