I also agree while HDR+ added to standard broadcasts pale in comparison to real HDR broadcasts, the finished results of HDR broadcast look so perfect they appear surreal and take some getting used to. I found that the HDR mode is there to simulate HDR in standard def views. I turned it off. Fact is I turned off most enhancements and would like to turn of HDR and just have 4K if that is possible. HDR looks artificial. ... View more

Update: After viewing the TV for a while I am still happy with the standard setting. Minor adjustments: Eco (min backlight 40). Night time TV backlight is too bright otherwise. Bumped up the sharpness to 26. Make the images a little crisper. All sources come in via HDMI ports. Audio now goes out via ARC to take advantage of higher bandwidth DD5.1 and Netflix HQ audio. @Mike0902 All good and very valid points. I find tweaking the different settings more or less moves me closer or further from one of the presets. Nothing wrong with that but for me I don’t have the patience to do such fine turning. Paying for calibration from the Geeks is fine until the next reset. Sooo I settled in on Standard mode and definitely turned off the Eco settings and passed on the HDR+ upscaling. ... View more

Model: UN55NU8000FXZC    I tried the native Netflix App and found the scenes to be very detailed but very dark in Standard, Natural and HDR+ Settings. The Netflix picture (same show)  from my Apple TV (1080p) and cable tuner (1080p) is much brighter. The test show is streamed from Netflix in  4K and HDR.  ... View more

Interesting. I thought the HDR+ setting over rides all the settings. I left the picture setting to Standard and found the colour to be very good from all sources but the image a little soft. I will trying Dynamic at the starting point. I am only accessing 1080p sources right now. ... View more

I found using this setting the picture is nice in colour but looks a little soft.  The faces appear to have heavy makeup.    1. I am not using 4K sources yet just 1080p. Should I even be using HDR+? 2. Do the Picture settings(Dynamic, Standard, Natural etc. impact the HDR mode? ... View more
