Ah, just found out the reason the info-button of the TV didn't show anything, was because the Denon receiver video output setting was set to 'pass through'. When it is set to auto, it does give info. But I'm afraid it only is the info the receiver is providing, not what the TV is showing. ... View more

Hehheh, no Xbox-ps4 fanboy war, no worries?  Yesterday I managed to get the quick settings button working (button with 4 colored dots, then 'info'. For some reason it didn't function earlier.. ).  With both the ps4 pro as the Nvidia Shield set up correctly, it did show it was in 4k mode, and the HDR insignia showed. But what was weird is that in the Nvidia Shield menu, the upper option 'dynamic range' was greyed out. The TV's info menu showed 4k and HDR...  Same when I rerouted the signal from Nvidia Shield directly to the TV (no Denon in between). Same signal-info. When playing the game 'The Witness' on Ps4  I could set HDR and 4k in the games menu. Only option for 4k HDR was 4k/30fps. That worked great. So the 60 fps I still have to do some research on. If you have tips for me to set up some test to do 60fps on 4k HDR, that would be welcome . (#edit, I'll try 'Uncharted, Lost Legacy'. That one has alle the settings, 4k, HDR and 60fps) ... View more

Hi,  I have a Denon x2500H and as of yet am not able to reproduce this behavior. The Samsung TV is model QE55Q9FN 2018. Hardware that plays 4k content are : Nvidia Shield.  Playstation 4 pro.  Both 'seem' to work normal, but I have doubts. I would like to know if there is a way that I am get real-time on screen info of what quality is displayed (resolution, HDR etc). Also, what settings will display the problem?  Unfortunately I cannot return the TV. But I still can return the receiver and buy a better one (don't know which one in this price range. Was onto the Onkyo-TX-NR686  but that also had some serious issues ).    Can anyone help me out ? With checking if Denon x2500H and Samsung-QE55Q9FN are optimal compatible with these sources  And with advice on another receiver?  Thank you  ... View more

Try (ex)changing your cables, that might fix it. Keep them short and within the specs (4k HDR). Also, some receivers might need you to keep those 4k source cables closest to the outgoing (arc) signal cable to your television. Has to do something with AVRboard layout. Might need to reposition your cables :-) ... View more

What a bunch of f@#&%ers at Samsung!  The don't even support standard coded stuff. Even my streaming from Netflix or other services will be hampered by this.  This week I contacted Samsung_NL and they told be (after contacting tech dept) that they will not support DTS in the future. They will pass the message to Samsung Global.  I politely told them to #&* and that we - the community- will keep on complaining and warning possible buyers for this. I myself have bought me a new AV receiver and made myself swear never to buy any device branded Samsung. Also my wife and kids are forbidden to do so ;-)  ... View more

Hey @superroot. I contacted my seller (I'm living in The Netherlands) and he acknowledged that Samsung has this issue. Only two options are: - using an optical out from the source to your amplifier (if that source has one, Nvidia Shield doesn't have one). - buy a new AV-receiver (and cross your fingers you have no issues with hdcp :-/ ). Another option is to set audio to PCM, but that's meh. He said that he doesn't expect Samsung to add this by a firmware update. They might eventualy add this to a follow-up model, but his experience is that they never add these large updates.   I contacted Samsung BeNeLux (Netherlands), by Messenger chat ^Jeff. He told me they had more complaints which they will forward to Korea. I brought this tread to his attention. He advised me to install the irmware update of last monday; he couldn't say if that solved the DTS-problem.   I'm gonna do the same as you, putting my review online with this TV. Pro: - vibrant colours, - quite good black levels , - smart solution power connection box with tiny cable to panel - no Oled, so less risk of screen burn Con: - no DTS !!, - washed out whites when completely black screen with tiny white spots, like starry skies - strange behaviour of brightness in subtitles. - bad viewing angles   It's just so strange that a TV at this pricepoint (2.400 euro's MSRP) does fail these basic functions and by that, is not backward compatible. An LG at a lower pricepoint delivers more. And that's even more strange because in 2017 Samsung has lost quite a market share to LG with their OLED panels.   I bought Samsung mainly because of my experience with screen burn on my 4.5yrs old Panasonic plasma TV. Also I was afraid of the vulnerability of Oled-panels.   I'm still seriously considering exchanging this Samsung to an LG E8. I'm going to send back my 55q9f I bought three weeks ago.  Here in the EU we have a 2 months reclaim period when one is not happy with the product. I already had my 400euro Cashback approved, well they can shove it. No more Samsung for me, ever .
