i have Q9FN and HW N850 Atmos Soundbar

when using Netflix App on the TV, i went into Expert Audio Settings and it lets me select "dolby digital +" for audio ouput

the hw n850 sounbar supports Atmos

yet when on netlfix still only get crappy 5.1 sound

ive owned a sony xf9005 recently and their netflix app gives Dolby Atmos sound using "dolby digital +" , yes it is "lossy" dolby atmos but still sounds much better than DD 5.1

so my question is why are Samsung not updating their Netflix App to have Dolby Atmos. i have what is required here, dolby digital + selected on q9fn and atmos capable hw n850 soundbar. this is all thats required for "lossy Dolby Atmos" same as you get on 2018 sony & LG tv's

come on samsung, please sort this out by updating to a atmos capable Netflix APP version. its all thats needed

its bad enough having no DTS after spending £2000 on your tv & sounbar, the very least you can do to keep customers a little bit happier is Fix this one

Yes, I have 4K subscription.

I also see DOLBY ATMOS at my expert sound settings. But Dolby digital + is grayed.

I found stuff on Netflix, that is ATMOS, but I still see only DD 5.1.

You have the same settup as I do, so I have faith, but it is a bit frustrating.

Ok, so I set DD+ in Amazon Prime and then switched to Netflix.

And I have Atmos in Netflix now.

Seems the issue is with how Samsung TV is storing meta data to say hey Netflix we have a Dolby Atmos enabler device here.

Great televisions bit terrible buggy firmware’s they really need to invest money in getting their firmwares and Dolby Atmos stuff sorted out or at least giving us an option for it that sorts replicates what we are having to do as a work around.

All that money an they can’t get it sorted out terrible Samsung very very lazy development!

Sorry guys. Wrong info on my original post. Please delete if possible. Anyways I confused DD+ with DD Atmos. I was able to turned on DD+ for Netflix following the recommendation from p29. Netflix Atmos via HDMI Arc is no go for my Q7FN, even though it did work for Amazon prime.

Hi, you got Dolby Atmos on Netflix in a 2018 Q7FN?

If so, I Think you might be the first one to have netflix atmos working in a 2018 model.

Hi

Exactly my thoughts how did you get atmos on that tv.
Through the months of reading different articles including tv specialists websites
Samsung TVs do not support dolby atmos on netflix or indeed even pass the signal through the tv to a soundbar or av amp from another source.
They.do not support earc or even decode atmos they only show dd+ which is not true atmos decoding otherewise it would say dolby atmos. I did see one samsung tv on you tube the did have dolby atmos in the expert sound settings and that seemed to have gone after further models/firmware updates.
My next tv will be ine that does atmos, HDR, and Dolby vision so looks like will be either lg nano screen although they still use ips panels or an lg oled and hope that the screen burn risk has been improved

I own late 2019 75" 4k HDR model and in expert settings i have an option of dolby atmos to tick and i can select it im connected with hdmi port from my tv to my soundbar and i get dolby atmos on my native apps like netflix without the reciver but still it does not show eArc it only shows ARC... plus i get the logo on netflix showing atmos.... oky so what i did was go to TV... dont try to change settings in app because it will be grayed so switch port to ur cable TV then go to expert and if u have tick dolby atmos plus u need to change audio to dolby digital + that is how i got atmos to apper in my netflix and it works perfect from nativ samsung app.

to be honest, I'm now past caring. I purchased an amazon fire TV cube and it does everything I want.

its the last Samsung TV I'm going to be by anyway.

Hi
Thanks for the reply. I don't have the Dolby digital option on my expert tv sound settings so pretty much resided to the fact I will never get it. The new lg 900 nano cell TVs are looking like my next choice or maybe an oled only reason i didnt get before was the risk of screen burn. But after living with this tv for over a year and seeing that even my cheap hisense tv in the bedroom can handle Dolby vision and hdr that's the feature I will be looking for in a new tv for 2021.
