Hi does anyone know of a VLC media player equivalent for the Samsung TV (QN95C). I need to be able to pick up network media files and VLC does this great. But I can't find one that works on the Samsung Tizen platform. Cheers

Hi @GuzziBoy  Have you ever tried Plex  https://uk.pcmag.com/internet-3/117774/plex     https://www.plex.tv/

Hi, yes I'm a big Plex user and have a NAS disc running a Plex server. However in this case I just wanted to run video using DNLA and FTP rather than user Plex server. As it happens I found the software switch on the Humax to turn on DNLA and FTP and now I can see the Humax file system from my Samsung TV. So the need for VLC is not now a requirement.

It still would be useful to know, if alternative (third-party) player could be installed into Samsung Tizen TV. The current one is primitive, even though it does the job. For me personally the biggest disadvantage of built-in player in Samsung TV is an enforcement of subtitles during video playback - VLC is one example of the good player, that does not do the same. To disable subtitles - pretty much as switching between audio tracks - you need clicking navigation buttons on remote control multiple times and it is for each video sample of course 😫

Note: Plex is a good advice, however it could not be used as UPNP client (UPNP server support only). It makes it a useless choice to access media files from your Smart TV using DLNA standard.
