I have a Smart TV (model: QE55QN700ATXXU) and am having issues with updating the firmware. The firmware on my device is apparently version 1015 according to the settings but the version on the support page for the TV says the latest version is 1805.4. When I try to update via the settings menu it just keeps returning an HTTP404 error.
I decided to try downloading the update file and place it on a USB stick. I followed the instructions and the final directory listing of the USB stick was:
/T-OSCPDEUC/image/info.txt
/T-OSCPDEUC/image/upgrade.msd
/SWU_AUTO_FLAG
When I plug the USB stick into the TV and run the check for updates in the settings it reports that there's no update available. I tried using a different USB stick and also an external SSD but both gave the same results.
Is this because the version number being reported by the TV is incorrect or am I actually just doing it wrong?
I am trying to update the firmware because I've been having issues with external HDMI devices like my Virgin Media set-top box (though not my Amazon FireTV stick) where the screen would just keep blacking out every few seconds and was hoping a firmware update might fix y issue. It has been reported on in another thread (Samsung QN95a / games consoles blacking out intermittently...) and some users there were able to resolve the issue by updating their TVs firmware but all attempts to update seem to have failed and I'm not sure what else to do. Any help would be appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Dan

Another update!
Samsung have released a new firmware version (1903) and my TV seems to have updated to it automatically over the network. This issue is now resolved.

I've tried that but it just reports that there's no update available.

So, I tried the USB firmware installation again with various tweaks to the folder structure and it still insists there's no update available. Interestingly, when checking for updates it no longer reports an HTTP 404 error but just says that there's no update available but that there might be one on the Samsung support website.
Given that the TV settings screen is still reporting the version number as 1015 but the version number on the support page for the TV says it's version 1805.4 I can only assume that Samsung have made an error with their version numbers and one of them is incorrect and they are in fact both the same update. If so then Samsung should change the incorrect one to avoid future confusion with customers.
As for my issue with external HDMI devices intermittently blacking out I suppose I'll just have to hope that Samsung fix the issue in a future update and that I can install it.
Kind regards,
Dan

Hi. I have the same problem with this TV. Did you contact Samsung and find a solution?

Sadly, I haven't been able to find a solution so far. I've been busy and haven't had the opportunity yet to contact Samsung customer support. 😞

I contacted Samsung last night as I read on another forum that Samsung has advised someone that if the software is too old it will not up-date and they have to send their TV to them for a hard software install.
I was advised the same thing by the rep but when I told them I will have to send the TV in they told me they are looking for a solution and are supposed to get back to me today.
I will up-date once I hear back. But you may wish to get on to them also. My primary concern is that if we cannot install the latest software it could render the TV redundant some time down the line.

I'm not so sure that it's a hardware issue since all of the HDMI ports on the TV function fine with my Amazon FireTV Stick it's just that it doesn't seem to work with devices like set-top boxes. I'm not sure about consoles since I don't own one as I'm more of a PC gamer myself.

I contacted Samsung customer support (finally) and apparently they are sending out a USB stick with the firmware preloaded onto it. I will report back if I have any success.
