UE65RU7400 And external hard drive

My hubby has just purchased the above TV which is great but I have programmes on an external hard drive that the tv doesn't seem to want to play do I need to upgrade my hard drive and are there any format of files that the TV doesn't support

The TV supports MSC (Mass Storage Class) USB devices only. When connecting an external hard drive, use the USB (HDD 5V 1A) port. We recommend that you use an external hard drive with its own power adapter. The DivX and DTS codecs are not supported by Samsung TV models released in 2019, however you can find the full list of supported codecs by checking page 159 of the user manual via the link below.
