UE49KU6400 SCREEN DARK MARK

My TV has started to show a dark mark vertically on the screen. This appears on all systems whether apps or sky dish. 

I also notice a blue white light at the bottom left of the screen. 

Does anyone know if this is a terminal failure and I need a new TV or is there a fix available that is cheaper than a new TV?

there is a YouTube tutorial on replacing the LED strips inside back of tv. It looks relatively simple, it's just the cost of the parts.
