tv sound picture gos off for few seconds

my tv which i use to watch virginmedia through  every so often suddenly looses picture and sound . 

it just reconnects and starts again tried hdmi leads and rset virgin box 

the actual set up is virgin box to my sony av reciever then to hdmi1 on tv 

the reciver doesnt show any loss on front read out only the tv looses its sound etc #

Have you tried a direct connection to the TV from the virgin box? If that works then it's probably a fault with the AV unit?

Thanks will try that now and let you know if it solved problem its very hard to eliminate but I suppose if doesnt cut out direct from virgin box to tv then it would be sensible to confirm fault with sony av reciver

If you have another TV/device, you could see if this issue happens still, thus helping you work out if it' the TV or the VM box etc.
