Hi

Can anyone please tell me how I can connect a bluetooth headphone to a samsung smart TV.   There is no headphone jack on my TV.  The only thing I can see is a Digital Audio (out) optical socket which seems closed off for some reason.  Any ideas welcome.  Take care.  Martin

I'm fine, thanks @MartinOH Are these all the connectors on the TV? If so, are you able to tell me which headset are you trying to connect to your TV?

yeah Tess M.   Those are the only connectors.   My headset is a USB H390 from Logitech.

Thanks for confirming that @MartinOH.

Audio-over-USB is computer-centric, being disabled on some TVs so that might be the reason why you are unable to get audio through these. e

In this case, I'd recommend using a digital to analog converter and an adapter connected to the adapter with a converter’s dual RCA (aka phono) connector and a stereo mini-jack on the other head which would accept a headphone’s plug.

Thanks TessM for getting back to me.   I am not a technie so could you please translate some of your response for me.   To clarify:

1. I need a digital analogue converter

2. Another adapter connected to this with a specific connector and a stereo mini jack.

I appreciate you can't recommend particular products but could you please give me specific descriptions of what to look for on Amazon or elsewhere.

Hi @MartinOH. I'm going to pass this on to our Product Specialists and see what they say regarding this. I'll get back as soon as I can.

Thanks CarlH.   I would appreciate it if I could get more specific information of what is required.

Hi @MartinOH , The Product Specialists have confirmed that the USB ports only have drivers for external drives rather than headphones.

Like yourself, I'd have thought the Digital Audio (out) optical socket was the best way for connecting either suitable headphones or a Bluetooth transmitter in this case. 🤔 Odd that it appears to be closed off though. A friend of mine thought the same thing with their TV's optical port, and they said when they put the cable in it "sort of folds in on itself".

Hi AntS

I get that but what would you suggest I need to make the connection.    The initial advice i got from the Moderator was that a USB headset was required.  I purchased same.   The second advice was a digital analogue converter.   As I said before I am not a technie so I am looking for specific guidance on what specifically is needed and where it should be connected to on the TV.   If you are not able to tell me this then please let me know and I will seek advice elsewhere.

@MartinOH , I can't recommend anything specific, but for Bluetooth headphones and an optical port you'd need something like one of these:

For USB headphones, I'm afraid that's beyond my knowledge to advise effectively on. I've asked my Specialist colleague on that one specifically, but I can't guarantee I'll  get an answer for you today.
