Soundbar connection

I have just bought a Neo QLED QE55QN95AATXXU television and a HW-Q900A/XU soundbar. The soundbar is connected to the TV via an HDMI cable which is connected to the Samsung “connection hub”. When switching on the TV with the remote the sound always defaults to TV speaker. I then have to go to Settings > Sound and select either Soundbar HDMI or Soundbar Wi-Fi. How do I ensure that the TV defaults to the soundbar?

Also, the sound quality is better via Wi-Fi than via HDMI which seems weird.

Thanks for advice. However, situation is complicated because I can control soundbar from TV remote (so clearly it is linked) but once TV is turned off connection to soundbar is dropped and has to be reset every time TV is turned on.

Have a look and see if they have a firmware update for your soundbar and tv
