I have an external speaker connected to my TV (Model UN40M5300) via optical cable. When I use the cable box (Xfinity), I can hear the sound from the TV, or after muting the TV, by turning on the external speaker. However when I open any app from the Smart Hub (I tried this with Netflix, Hulu and Disney+), the sound only works with the TV - when I switch to the external speaker I get no sound. Even after going into the settings and switching the sound source to the Optical option I still get no audio. I've also confirmed that my sound type is not Dolby.

Hey @Keith0628! Are you still having issues with this? Have you tried contacting the speaker's manufacturer about this? Also, what is the software version of the TV? Menu > Settings > Support > Contact Samsung.

Carlo, it's been a while, pandemic and all... The software version is T-KTSAKUC-1300.3. I'm still experiencing the issue where the smart apps will not play audio over an external speaker that is connected via an optical cable.
